If you have decided that your workplace is temporary then you are classified as a “site based” employee and should be allowed to claim the following expenses:

- The cost of travelling from your home to place of contract
- The cost of travelling between sites if your contract requires you to undertake such journeys
- The cost of lunches
- The cost of overnight accommodation including dinner and breakfast if your contract requires you to stay away from home.

In addition to the above expenses, for overnight stays you can also claim a Incidental overnight expense allowance of £5 per night. You do not need to enter this figure on the calculator since the calculation automatically assumes that you will claim this if you are staying away from home.
